01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Watching premium cuts sizzle over charcoal while the aroma fills the table is at the heart of the experience at Kaburatei. Located on the 1th floor of a building in Kita-Shinjuku, the long-standing restaurant welcomes diners with warm hospitality and expertly prepared meats.

The menu spans staples like salted tongue, kalbi, and loin, alongside prized selections such as fine-grained chateaubriand tenderloin and premium salted Wagyu kalbi cut from the prized chuck rib (sankaku-bara). Meticulously prepared appetizers set the stage, from the signature Gyutan Kaburatei cured in miso to tender beef tataki. Fresh seafood like scallops, clams, and prawns is also on hand, giving guests the option to alternate between rich meats and fresh shellfish over the grill.

For group gatherings or celebrations, the multi-course dinner sets and all-you-can-drink plans offer a balanced progression from starters through grilled mains to comforting finales. Meals often conclude with a rich gomtang broth simmered with oxtail or gentle beef and rice soups (gukbap), followed by refreshing sweets such as fruit sorbet or cherry jubilee.

Outfitted with private rooms and comfortable booth seating, the understated dining room provides an easygoing atmosphere for family dinners and gatherings with friends alike. Paired with a pour of wine, makgeolli, or a highball, it is an inviting spot to take your time over the glowing coals.
